When the Prophet ﷺ first came to Madinah, he established what is often referred to as the Constitution of Madinah. In it, we find the designation for his followers: the Ummah.
This Ummah, in just two decades, was not only able to abolish shirk from the Arabian Peninsula, but also overcome the greatest empires of the time.
Its foundation was simple.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“…O people!
Spread peace (the greeting of salam),
Feed others,
Uphold the ties of kinship,
And pray during the night when people are sleeping —
You will enter Paradise with Salam.”
(Sahih, Sunan Ibn Mājah)
Four things.
Three about serving humanity.
One about serving Allah.
If we, as an Ummah, wish to thrive again, we must embody these qualities.
That’s what we’re trying to do here at One Ummah — revive Prophetic community through service, connection, and worship.
If a thriving Ummah is something you want to see, join us for Seerah Night, where we study stories like these and break bread together every Monday — or check out the monthly calendar below for all of our upcoming programs.
In your service,
